Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, all of our offices and physicians are open to new patients. Should you wish to schedule an appointment with any of our providers, please go to our "Locations" or "Physicians" tab and select a physician, location or specialty of your choice. The phone numbers for each office are listed under the "Locations" tab.
Do you accept my insurance carrier?
We participate with the following insurance providers:
  • Highmark Blue Shield
  • Aetna Health Plan
  • Cigna Healthcare
  • Keystone First 
  • Medicare
  • Medicaid
  • United Healthcare
  • Health Partners 

However, if your insurance is not listed, please do not hesitate to call our Billing Department at 610-917-9281.
Can I see a PMA physician if my insurance company does not participate with PMA?
In most cases, yes, provided your insurance plan includes an out of network benefit. Typically, out of network benefits permit you to receive services from non-network physicians but require you, through an increased co-payment or co-insurance, to assume a larger share of the financial responsibility for payment of the services provided.
I received a bill from PMA and have a question, who do I contact?
Our Billing Department is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding billing issues. Please call them at 610-917-9281.
My insurance company requires a referral for certain services. How can I obtain a referral when necessary?
If your primary physician determines there is a medical necessity for you to be referred to a specialist or facility, he or she will gladly refer you. Your physician may need to see you in the office before making such a determination. If you are a PMA patient, the Message Center allows you to request a referral online under certain circumstances. Should you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of our offices directly.
Why can't my health information be shared with my spouse or family members?
The HIPAA privacy guidelines are very specific with regard to individual patient privacy. We are required by law to maintain the privacy of your protected health information (PHI). Should you wish to allow us to release your PHI to a designated individual, please contact one of our offices to request an ÔÇťAuthorization for the Use/Disclosure of Protected Health Information.
Where can I go to have lab work or radiology studies done?
Many insurance companies limit the laboratories that you may use to receive lab work or radiology studies. Please check with your insurance company for requirements and/or limitations regarding where you can obtain lab work or radiology studies.
When can I expect to be contacted regarding the results of my tests?
Each physician has his or her own practice or routine regarding notification of results. Our physicians review phone messages and test results throughout the day and will return calls personally, when necessary, or will have a staff member contact you with the information you need.
When should I have my first colonoscopy?
The American Cancer Society recommends that adults at average risk should begin colorectal screening at age 50, using one of the following five options for screening:
  • Annual Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT)
  • Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, every five years
  • Annual FOBT plus Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, every five years
  • Double- contrast Barium Enema, every five years
  • Colonoscopy, every 10 years

The American Cancer Society recommends more intensive surveillance for:
  • Persons at increased risk due to a history of polyps
  • Persons with a history of curative-intent resection of colorectal cancer
  • Persons with a family history of either colorectal cancer or colorectal adenomas diagnosed in a first-degree relative before age 60 years
  • Persons at significantly higher risk due to a history of inflammatory bowel disease of s
Should I have a flu shot?
In general, anyone who wants to reduce their chances of getting the flu can get vaccinated. However, certain people should get vaccinated each year. They are either people who are at high risk of having serious flu complications or people who live with or care for those at high risk for serious complications. Please consult your physician for further information and recommendations.
If I am experiencing any new, severe or increasing chest pain, should I call your office or go directly to the Emergency Room?
Please contact 911 or have someone take you directly to the Emergency Room of your local hospital. Our cardiologists are on staff at Phoenixville Hospital and Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
How often should I have my cholesterol checked?
Physicians generally recommended testing based on several factors, including age, sex, and medical history. Please consult your physician to discuss a schedule that is right for you.
