The endocrine system controls the hormone levels within the body. The system is comprised of the pineal, pituitary, thyroid and adrenal glands, as well as the pancreas, ovaries and testes. Hormones regulate many bodily processes including growth, mood, development and metabolism. Disorders occur when these glands do not create the proper hormones, release too much/too little of the hormone or the hormone has nothing to bind with. Examples of disorders include diabetes and hyperthyroidism.
